Hundreds gather at TORLYS 35th & Sun-Brite’s 50th anniversary celebration.

TORONTO, ON – July 2023 – TORLYS, a global flooring leader specializing in beautiful, responsible flooring solutions, hosted a memorable night June 14th alongside Sun-Brite Drapery, the leader in window décor and design, to commemorate their respective business milestones and longtime partnership with family, friends, and supporters from the construction industry.

More than 400 guests attended the memorable night, hosted by TORLYS Senior VP of Sales for Builder & Hospitality Cam Bowen and Sun-Brite President Benny Caringi, whose longstanding friendship evolved to many business collaborations, even earning them The Building Industry and Land Development Association (BILD)’s “Member of the Year” award for volunteer efforts hosting events for Hats On for Awareness charity.

Many touching sentiments were shared as the duo reminisced on both companies’ growths and achievements over the years, crediting their joint success to the ongoing support of family, teammates (past and present), and valued clients.

“Over 3.5 decades of change at TORLYS, one constant remains, we’ve stayed true to our roots as a people-focused company committed to making flooring better,” said Bowen. “We could not have reached this milestone without the dedication of our talented team and fantastic partners like Sun-Brite, a fellow family-run business that echoes our commitment to service, innovation, and making a positive community impact. I look forward to the next 35 years and what lies ahead!”

Local dignitaries Steven DelDuca, Mayor of Vaughan, Hon. Michael Tibollo, Minister of Health and Addictions for Vaughan, Rosanna DeFrancesca, Councillor for Vaughan, and David Wilkes, President, and CEO of BILD, also joined in on the festivities and shared thoughtful words of encouragement throughout the event, while Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie offered her congratulations in a special video message.

Cam Bowen has been promoted to Senior Vice President Sales – Builder & Commercial North America. Bowen celebrates 20 years with TORLYS this year and has been instrumental in securing TORLYS as a leading flooring supplier to the builder industry in Canada.

In focus: International Women’s Day | TORLYS Women

When women are given opportunities in business, we all benefit. Beyond the social fairness arguments advocating for gender diversity, it also proves beneficial to the health of a business. According to a study from McKinsey & Company, “companies with higher levels of gender, ethnic, and cultural diversity are more likely to outperform their less diverse peers on profitability” (Canadian Women).

It’s also important for women in business to see other women succeeding and in positions of leadership. As discussed by the Rockefeller Foundation, female leaders provide, “the support and role models women desperately need to advance in their careers and bringing about much-needed changes in the workplace benefitting both genders” (Rockefeller Foundation).

The Flooring Industry & TORLYS

If you close your eyes and envision the flooring industry – who and what makes up the picture in your head? Likely your traditional idea of flooring doesn’t reflect the reality of the current makeup of the industry. Over the past few decades, the people who make up this industry have become increasingly diverse including the number of women, challenging the traditional image of the floor covering industry.
